Dear Customer,

 

 

ADDITIONAL NOTE: NEW BRAZILIAN CUSTOMS RULES: NEW BRAZILIAN CUSTOMS SYSTEM ¡V ¡§SISCOMEX CARGA¡¨ (SISCARGA)

 

Reference to our earlier circular (OCS/050208/L003-CSA) dated 5th February 2008 on the same subject as quoted below, we would like to remind that Brazilian Customs has implemented a new system called Siscomex Carga (SISCARGA) with the aim to enhance control over all vessels and cargoes inbound, outbound and in transit through Brazil. Meanwhile, please kindly note the additional remarks relating to this new rule as attached (refer page 2).

 

As from March 31st, 2008 Siscomex Carga (SISCARGA) will require that Carriers provide in advance complete information regarding all cargoes TO BE:

 

 

In this sense, from now, despite the usual contents that must be included into any single bill of lading issued through B/L draft, some additional information will become mandatory to be transmitted to local Brazilian Customs by Carriers, which will require shipping instructions supplied by customers also contain:

 

1.1

-

Weight of the CARGO only (in kilograms ¡V KGS) including packaging such as pallets, boxes, etc., per container. . *Please note actual tare weight is NOT a "Must" to include in the B/L. But if customer request to show actual tare weight on B/L, we will accept and should input by Carrier.

1.2

-

Measurement of the CARGO only (in cubic meters ¡V M/3) including packaging such as pallets, boxes, etc., per container;

1.3

-

Description of CARGO (complete and specific, avoiding general terms such as ¡§General cargo¡¨, ¡§dry cargo¡¨, ¡§chemical¡¨, ¡§perishable items¡¨, etc.);

1.4

-

Consignee details (mandatory to inform valid CNPJ or CPF in Brazil, which is the Brazilian tax identification number);

1.5

-

Passport Number (mandatory for personal effects, household goods);

1.6

-

NCM (Harmonized System Code) ¡V per kind of commodity or group of commodity, per container <first 4 (four) digits>;

1.7

-

Seal number of container <up to 4 (four) seals>.

Chassis Number (VIN Number)

Please kindly note additional remarks as below: -

 

 

 

¡P        Brazilian Customs will only accept Correction Letters up to maximum period of 30 (thirty) running days after vessel¡¦s arrival at Brazilian discharging port.

 

 

 

If customer fails to provide all the mandatory requirements mentioned above, the cargo may be withheld by Brazilian Customs and may face with penalties (from R$ 5000-, which is equal to approx. US$ 2900- subject to exchange rate variation at the time of penalty, and up to ten times the amount of the ocean freight plus surcharges manifested) plus any storage, demurrage and reefer cargo care. Please note that any non-compliance that costs such penalty will be account cargo.
